Libby

Libby is known as the city of eagles and is located where the Cabinet Mountains meet the Kootanay River. Libby is surrounded by National Forrest and offers amazing views, pristine rivers, majestic lakes, and rugged mountain trails. Wildlife sightings include deer, elk, moose, bear, wolves, coyotes, mountain lions and marmots. The population in Lincoln County was 2,688 in 2012 and it was a mere 2,628 in the 2010 census. That is an average increase of 30 per year. There goes the neighborhood!  You can get to Libby from the lil cabin in the woods by taking Highway 56 North to Highway 2 West.  Keep your eyes peeled for the Mountain Goats along the Kootenay on the steep rock slopes.

  • Rosauers – Groceries (make sure you ask about the T-Bones behind the counter)
  • Antler’s Restaurant – Biscuits & Gravy or anything with gravy 🙂
  • Libby Sports Center – Anything hunting & fishing
  • Northwest Motorsports – Anything boat related

 

Troy

Troy is a mining town and stretches across 499 acres. Troy is more rural due to the lower population so you will likely see more wild life.  The population in Troy was 962 in 2012 and it was a mere 938 in the 2010 census. You can get there from the lil cabin by taking Highway 56 North to Highway 2 East.   You’ll be there before you know it but don’t miss out on the views of the Kootenay River to your right on the way to Troy.

  • Booze N Bait – Ummm… booze or bait dumb ass, acoustic guitar maybe?
  • Troy Bowling Alley – Slots, drinks, bowling
  • Ace Hardware – Tools, building materials and hardware
  • Stein’s Market – Groceries, fishing license
